An early morning house fire killed an elderly woman and injured two others in Weaver, according to police.

Firefighters responded to a residence on Parker Boulevard around 3:30 a.m. today. A 3-year-old child and 57-year-old man were airlifted to UAB Hospital, according to a press release from police Chief Wayne Bush. A 75-year-old woman at the residence died before responders could rescue her.

As of 10 a.m., the child and man were reported to be in stable condition, the release said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. A call to State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk was not immediately returned.
