BAND Band name: Weaver High School Marching Band

Band director: Jared Holland

A few words from the band director on the 2009 outlook: "I am so excited about this year's show! Our students have put in long hours and have dedicated themselves to making this one of the best seasons we've had! We've put a little bit of everything in our show this year from Latin Rock, to Soul, to playing on trash cans ... yes, proration even hits the band departments! Our program has had marked success for many years now, and with the quality of musicianship, the support of our parents and staff, and help of our community, this year should be no different! Thank you to all of our band members, sponsors, and supporters for giving us the ability to achieve tremendous success each year!"

Number in band: 88.

Class breakdown: 12 seniors, 15 juniors, 14 sophomores, 24 ninth-graders and 23 eighth-graders.

Section leaders: Kendall Cook, flutes; Alicia Pigue, clarinets; Brittany Williams, saxophones/horns; Ethyn Roberts, trumpets; Jesse Pate, trombones; David Crunkilton, tubas; Rebecca Romine, pit percussion; and John Tyler Hall, percussion.

Drum major: Kara Mullinax.

Head color guard: Maranda Kelley.

Head dance line: Amber Brown.

Halftime show: "Everybody's Everything," "Hold On I'm Comin'," "First Refusal" and "The Pretender."

2009-2010 competition plans: Calhoun County Exhibition, Sept. 15, Ranburne Festival at Ranburne High School on Sept. 19, Dixie Jubilee Jam at Weaver High School on Sept. 26, and the Covered Bridge Festival at Oneonta High School on Oct. 3.

Booster Club officers: John Wright, president; Barbara Smith, vice president; and Angie Wright, secretary.

CHEERLEADERS Varsity football cheerleading squad: Ashley Jennings, Stephanie Lopez (head), Angelica Tucker, Taylor Hollis, Amber Smith (head), Chelsea Watson (head), Katelyn Ledet (head), Meche Haynes, Tequilla Tucker, Haley Welch, Hannah Burr, Cerena Cortez, Lyndsie Jennings and Khadeshia Tucker.

Awards: Attended UCA Camp and received superior rating.

Varsity cheerleader sponsor: Leslie Schall.

Junior high football cheerleading squad: Kristena Warren, Kelsey Wilson (head), Jewelle Morton (head), Alyssa Perkey, Hannah Pugh, Lauren Reed, Kaitlyn Rhodes, Jamia Ware-Smith, Madison Welch and Hailee Wine.

Awards: Attended UCA Camp and received superior rating.
