Students of Charles Miller, an Oxford Middle School teacher who was injured in a motorcycle accident on July 6, will get the chance Thursday to send him a message.

Oxford Middle Principal Kyle McCartney is setting up a video room at the school where students can visit from noon to 5 p.m. on Thursday. The school’s address is 1750 U.S. 78 West. Students and others may stop by and record a message that will be delivered to the popular science teacher.

Supporters are asking students to contact others on the social networking service Twitter to get the message out.

Miller is still in the trauma intensive care unit at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he was taken from Anniston after his July 6 accident. No other vehicles were involved in the accident, which occurred on Jones Road in DeArmanville.

Miller’s wife, Shametra, said he has had two surgeries and is still recovering. He faces no more surgeries, she said.

“He is requesting no student visitors yet,” said Shametra. “However, adults may visit him.”

Trauma ICU allows visitors 9-10 a.m., 4-5 p.m., and 8-9 p.m.

Shametra said she appreciates the outpouring of cards and support from friends in both Anniston and Oxford.

“He can’t wait to get back to the classroom,” she said.
