Tide's Mosley and Jones, Tigers' Malzahn and Mason clean up in SEC honors

BIRMINGHAM — Southeastern Conference coaches have given top honors to Auburn's Gus Malzahn and Tre Mason and Alabama's C.J. Mosley and Christion Jones.

The SEC released the winners today.

The coaches voted Auburn's Gus Malzahn coach of the year, and picked his star tailback, Tre Mason, as the top offensive player.

Mosley, an All-America linebacker, and Missouri defensive end Michael Sam are co-defensive players of the year.

Jones, a receiver and kick returner, is special teams player of the year. Mississippi receiver Laquon Treadwell is freshman of the year.

Texas A&M left tackle Jake Matthews receives the Jacobs Blocking Trophy. Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray is Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Malzahn and Mason have led No. 2 Auburn into the national championship game Jan. 6 against No. 1 Florida State. Mason is a Heisman Trophy finalist.

Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.
