TUSCALOOSA — Linebacker Charlie Higgenbotham became the latest Alabama football player to leave the program in the summer of transfers. The Mountain Brook product is headed to South Alabama to play for his former prep coach Joey Jones, a former Crimson Tide player who is coaching the first-year FCS program in Mobile.
After sitting out the 2006 season with a redshirt, Higgenbotham played mostly special teams while recording 16 tackles — including a sack — in his 24 games at Alabama
He joins the long list of transfers from Nick Saban's program that closed spring practice well above the 85-scholarship limit set by the NCAA.
