TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama added its 18th public commitment for the class of 2014 when four-star offensive lineman Ross Pierschbacher announced he has switch his pledge from Iowa to the Crimson Tide through a news release Sunday.

“After considering many different options and things important to me, my family, and my future career, I am excited to announce that I have decided to play my collegiate career for Coach Saban and The University of Alabama,” Pierschbacher said in the release.

“This has been a very humbling experience and I would like to thank everyone that has helped me along the way.”

Pierschbacher, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound tackle from Cedar Falls, Iowa, committed to Iowa in January.

He is the No. 5 offensive tackle prospect in the nation according to the 247Composite rankings and the No. 59 overall prospect regardless of position. He is the fifth offensive line commit for the Tide’s 2014 class, which is currently the No. 1 class in the nation according to 247Sports.
