Anniston's newest television show, The Rub, premiered Thursday night on TV-24.
Mayor Gene Robinson and Councilman John Spain host the community information show and featured former Piedmont Mayor Charlie Fagan as their first guest.
Fagan recently has come under fire for storing junk cars on his land the city once used as a park.
Fagan defended himself, saying he's tried to speak with city leaders multiple times about the property.
Spain and Robinson said they'll have one or two "controversial" guests each week.
Sitting on the desk beside Robinson Thursday night was a stuffed pink poodle. Robinson keeps a pink poodle in his office as well. It's a reference to an argument the mayor had with Councilman Ben Little earlier this year.
While he campaigned for office, Robinson was fond of calling himself a "bulldog" for Anniston. Little wrote an e-mail saying that Robinson wasn't a bulldog, but a poodle.
After that, Robinson bought the pink poodle.
Little's name came up Thursday night on The Rub as well. In discussion with Fagan, Spain suggested Little might go speak to the Piedmont council.
"Maybe they'll offer some incentives and he'll go over and stay there," Spain said.
Spain and Little also frequently argue in council meetings.
Spain and Robinson said they want to have fun with the program, which they tried to show in photographs before and after commercial breaks.
One photo showed Robinson with a bag over his head. Another featured him with a long Pinocchio-esque nose, while another showed Spain pretending to choke the mayor with what appeared to be a belt.
The two co-hosts plan to invite guests from throughout the region on the show to talk about a broad range of subjects. They also invited community feedback and said they wanted the show to be "interactive."
The Rub airs Thursday nights at 7 and next week's guest is Weaver Mayor Garry Bearden.
