September birthdays celebrated were Doug Rosser, Gail Pointer, Martha King, Helen Godby, Raleigh Gresham, Pitt Peel, Glen Frachiseur, Paul Canter, Frances Kerns, Lois McCord and Bill Camp.
David King’s devotion using Philippians 3:17 was on being a good example. He noted that Paul was a good example for the early Christian church that we should walk in his pattern to better our ways and strive to improve ourselves.
Sammy Holbrooks gave information on a relatively new ministry. What started as an idea has become a reality. Piedmont First Baptist now has a disaster relief trailer. In the event of a natural disaster, this group has the equipment and supplies to feed 1500-2000 meals in a short time. Donations of items as well as money have made this possible. A large tent and refrigerators are needed. Donations have included the trailer, generators, hot water heaters, stoves, convections ovens, food and water. If needed, the team is ready to answer.
After a brief question period and discussions, Sammy closed with prayer. Forty-one members and five guests were present.
The October meeting will be a picnic at the home of Bill and Beverly Hart.
