Re “Star to end Monday edition in October” (News article, July 9):

As a subscriber and avid reader of The Star, it upsets me to think it will not print a Monday paper in the coming months because of a “study” done by someone outside our community.

I have a couple of suggestions that may help:

1. Eliminate the legal pages in the Monday edition and, in turn, print more of the Speak Out column so that your readership can have more of a voice in local government and issues that affect all of your readers. One opinion letter from a reader, and a support letter for a political hopeful, is not conducive for your Speak Out column.

2. During election years, as this is, write/print all of the candidates’ standing issues in a separate section and let interested voters read where they stand on certain issues for election. If politicians want to be heard on their agenda to be elected, let them pay The Star a fee to be heard.

3. I agree that the Escapes section should be done away with and have area television information put back on a daily basis.

4. If The Anniston Star is to discontinue the Monday edition in the future, will it lower my monthly bill by that amount? I think not.
