The city of Anniston and the students of Anniston City Schools are in a no-win situation unless we decide it’s time to make a change. We have complained and all but a limited few have done nothing to see the city or the students succeed. Politicians often have silver tongues and false promises. Ego is the only thought most process. It’s time we open our eyes and see who puts their time and commitment in.
As a past PTO president at Anniston High School and founder of The Bulldog Backers, a program that mentored senior athletes, I had the personal commitment of two who are running for office in Anniston. They are Vaughn Stewart and Marcus Dunn. These two stepped forward to mentor students and gave their time and money to do so. In 2009, I sent out 423 letters to doctors, lawyers, counselors, pastors, politicians and businessmen in the community. I needed nine positive men to mentor nine football seniors. These two individuals answered this request. This speaks volumes to me.
Your decision on Aug. 28 will either turn this city and school system around or continue to let this city destruct. Vaughn Stewart and Marcus Dunn have shown they stand on their word and their concerns for the city and our youth. Show them their efforts have been noticed. Vote for both of these candidates.
