More people have been able to spend the holidays with their loved ones since the Alabama state troopers began the Operation Safe Holidays traffic safety campaign four years ago.
This year's campaign from Dec. 10 through Sunday was a success with 10 fewer traffic fatalities on the state's highways than during the same period a year ago, Col. F. A. Bingham, acting director of the Alabama Department of Public Safety, said in a news release.
