The check may be in the mail. The state is about halfway through processing what's expected to be more than 1 million tax refunds this year and sent out 8,808 refunds earlier this week totaling more than $2.8 million, according to Carla Snellgrove, spokeswoman for the Department of Revenue.
That brings the total so far to $238 million that has been sent to 589,095 Alabama taxpayers.
