Curvin earned the win, throwing seven innings while allowing six hits and two unearned runs.
The Valley Cubs (25-11) were led by Justice Owens and Logan Doss, who each had two hits. Dalton Cobb and Doss each scored twice. The bulk of Alexandria’s runs came in the second and third innings when it combined to score eight times.
Jacksonville’s offensive productive dropped off after the second inning. The Golden Eagles (22-11) had four hits in the first and the second and scored twice on errors. Jackson Bell singled and scored and Nathan Whaley reached base twice.
Alexandria will face the winner of Ardmore (20-7) and Madison County (20-11) in the third round next weekend at a site to be determined. Ardmore won Game 1, but Game 2 was postponed because of weather. It was be resumed today, with the third game following afterward.
