I read history, history of the United States and the world. I read history to learn how the world really is and was, not as I wish history to be.

Four things are for real and true in today’s 21st century.

Temperatures are rising; natural resources are being depleted; species loss is accelerating; and the gap between the rich and poor is increasing.

The great philosopher Aristotle said many years ago: “Oligarchy is when the men of property have the government in their hands.”

I think that this man was right as rain — but he should have also said, “Men of property and the money-changers.”

Why are there so many wars in world history? I have developed a theory: Far too many nations do not take the world as it is, they make wars to make the world as they wish it to be.
