First, I’m in no way anti-government, and there is not a “conspiracy theory” bone in my body. However, I do disagree with this decision and think this is too much government interference.
People had a choice — to choose a restaurant that bans smoking or choose one that allows smoking. This seems like the good ol’ American way, freedom of choice. I am a non-smoker and think cigarette smoking is repulsive and would never choose a restaurant that allowed smoking. However, if a restaurant chooses to allow smoking, that is great, because I can choose to avoid these places. If people choose to smoke cigarettes, knowing they are literally choking themselves to death, that’s their prerogative.
But when the Anniston city government elected to ban smoking in all restaurants, that’s a little too “big brotherish” for me.
