Republicans are quick to point to the national debt as every American’s problem. Now ain’t that something! In the last 30 years, most of the gains in the gross national product have gone to the top 1 percent. Most of the tax breaks have gone to the top 1 percent. But now they are generously willing to share the debt with newborns and granny and pop.

Never mind the newborn didn’t run up the debt and can’t vote for 18 years. Never mind granny and pop paid the highest payroll taxes in our history during their working careers and didn’t run up the debt. In fact, from 1945 until Ronald Reagan’s voodoo economics kicked in, the national debt dropped every year.

Looks like the newborn and granny and pop are gonna have to get another job in this jobless economy and forfeit the Social Security and Medicare they paid for in advance. Yes, by all means, sock it to the newborns and granny and pop. It is the Republican way.
