To which city did Chris take Andrea for their first date? (Huntsville.)
Where were Chris and Andrea standing when he popped the question? (In front of a fire.)
On April 13, Christian Coy Williams and Andrea Eva Jackson were married in a lovely evening ceremony at The Barn on Brookside in Oxford. Upon their return from a Destin, Fla., honeymoon, they gathered with friends at the home of Tim and Donna Barton for a post-wedding shower.
Among the guests were Derek Brown, the groom’s longtime business partner, and Tonya Wilson, the bride’s cousin and matron of honor. Other guests included Tonya’s husband, Derrick, as well as Audrey and Darren Tinkey, Matt and Lindsay Tyson, Joseph Jankoski, Amie Hinton and Chassidy Bowen. Andrea’s high school friends from Clay County — Ami Pearson, Libby Haynes and Bethany Owens — also joined in on the fun.
Guests began the evening socializing with cocktails and a spread of party foods including baked corn dip, cucumber slices with tomato and feta cheese and mini-calzones before getting down to the nitty-gritty of any wedding shower — the gifts and the games!
The highlight of the evening was a 10-question trivia contest, created by “Mr. Trivia” himself, Joe Jankoski. All of the guests were randomly divided into teams of two and told to choose team names. Libby and Amie, for example, went with “Lamey” — while Derek and Lindsay named themselves “Dragon Swords of Death and Destiny” (for reasons that only made sense to them!) Matt thought his team was a shoo-in to win when he was paired with Tonya. After all, wouldn’t the one who introduced the couple know all the trivia about them? But the winning team turned out to be Tonya’s husband, Derrick, who, along with the bride’s high school BFF, Ami, took the grand prize with a near-perfect score.
After a break for sweets (specifically, “Uber Chocolate” cake and — to quote Derek Brown — “little magical biscuits,” aka cream puffs) the group reconvened for a fun challenge that was sprung on the unsuspecting couple: The Newlywed Game! Chris gave the correct guesstimate for Andrea’s shoe size, and Andrea knew exactly what topping Chris would choose for his pizza, but both husband and wife came up short on a couple of other answers. When the game ended in a tie, the two had to split the prize — a bottle of champagne — which meant the blissful bride and groom were able to remain just that ... blissful!
