This year’s Empty Stocking Gala will be Nov. 2 and will feature a sumptuous buffet provided by Classic on Noble, an open bar and rockin’ entertainment by the band Party Nation. In addition, the Courtyard by Marriott is offering overnight accommodations — including a continental breakfast the next morning — at a reduced rate, thanks to board members Nick and Manju Purohit. The hotel is also providing shuttle service to and from the gala, running every half hour from 5 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday. To make a reservation, call the hotel at 256-831-7995 and ask for the Empty Stocking Gala package.
Talk about a long history of success — the Empty Stocking Gala, now in its 24th year, was the brainchild of Colleen Roberts and Sue Taylor. The two friends saw a need in our community, got more of their friends together, and the rest is history. Proceeds provide Christmas gifts — as well as help throughout the year — for every child in the care of the Department of Human Resources in Calhoun and Cleburne counties.
Empty Stocking’s new board members Becky and Terry Wilson, Kari and Will Payne and Bruce Adams, along with returning board members Lisa and Mike Askew, Brenda and Joe Bynum, Karen and Mark Lee, Sherlyn and Corey McWhorter, Edith and Paul Trammell, Kenny Steppe, Karlynn and David McCormack, Manju and Nick Purohit, Tammy and Gary Wigington, Toni and Art Hathorn, Julie and Jeff Hansek, Chuck Ward, Ashley and Stephen Lines and Brenda and Melvin Morgan invite you to join them for a festive evening.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with an open bar in the lobby. Dinner begins at 7 p.m. Ticket prices are $125 per couple. Reserved tables will be available for an additional donation.
Tickets are available from any board member or by calling gala president Sherlyn McWhorter, 256-835-0929, or gala chairman Paul Trammell, 256-237-4300.
