Robert Caleb Floyd of Anniston arrived at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas, in November to attend Military Intelligence Officer training. He graduated from Huntingdon College in Montgomery in May, with a major in political science and a minor in aerospace studies. He concurrently attended the ROTC program at Alabama State University and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in May.

He is the son of two military retirees. Floyd’s father, retired Sgt. Maj. Thomas W. Floyd, was the last active duty sergeant major assigned to Fort McClellan and, as Garrison Sergeant Major, assisted in closing the Fort in 1999. Floyd received his Oath of Office in Montgomery and was sworn in by his mother, Mari S. Floyd, U.S. Army retired. Floyd’s training is planned to last about eight months.
