Saks, Oxford each win 3

OXFORD — Saks improved to 13-5 with three wins in the Oxford tournament on Saturday.

The Wildcats started out with a loss to Alexandria (25-11, 25-22) before defeating Oxford (26-28, 25-21, 15-13). Pleasant Valley beat Saks (25-10, 25-9) in the next match, but Saks rebounded with wins against White Plains (25-16, 25-18) and Lincoln (25-20, 25-23).

Taylor West led the Wildcats with 27 kills, 26 digs and 10 blocks. Setter Valentina Cuevas had 57 assists and six aces. Jasmine Moten added 20 kills and 19 digs, and Marissa Washington had 14 kills and five blocks.

Oxford went 3-1 in the tournament.

The Yellow Jackets, who improved to 11-3, defeated Lincoln (25-20, 25-16), Alexandria (25-17, 25-13) and White Plains (25-12, 25-20).

For Oxford, C.J. Payton had 28 kills, Brittaney Brown added 26 kills, 25 digs and six aces. Katherine Uhrin added seven aces and three blocks, while Shanda Castain had 29 digs and four aces. Logan McCall had 75 assists.

Saks play at Wellborn on Thursday.
