Joe Scarborough of MSNBC’s Morning Joe made important point when he said that the South (his section of the country) has been overlooked. Some thought that Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida or Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana would have been considered for the position. One of my Republican friends had stated that he was going to vote for Romney while holding his nose. He had been offended by Romney’s remark about eating “cheesy grits” while visiting in Alabama.
There may be quite a few Southerners voting for Romney while holding their nose because Romney’s visit to the South was simply to garner the Southern vote. One has to admit that it is a step down to a rich, Northern elite to pass up caviar for “cheesy grits.” There is little need to be concerned, you can bet that he will be back in the South soon and will know this time how to pronounce or enunciate our savory delight of cheese and grits and pretend to enjoy it just as we do. There will be much discussion about the Romney-Paul Ryan ticket in the South in the days to come.
