Forty members of the Cleburne County High School class of 1962, along with 26 spouses/friends, celebrated their fifty year reunion Aug. 4, 2012, in the Miles-Webb Field House in Heflin. The afternoon began with a trip down memory lane in the halls of the old CCHS followed by a social hour filled with chatting, laughing, showing family photos and catching up.

After a catered dinner, where the tables were beautifully decorated with red carnations floating in pedestal bowls surrounded by candles and greenery, Lynda Campbell Ewen presented a lovely tribute to the twelve deceased members of the class. Edith Hammond led the class down memory lane with a video presentation.

Patsy McElroy Swafford Body recognized the men in the class who served their country in military action. Pat Crane Skinner entertained with a segment called “we were born before ___.” Harold Crumpton reminded us of high school personalities and pranks we spent years trying to forget. In a brief business meeting, it was decided we would reunite in two years.

Class members present were Larry Alexander, Harry Blanton, Helen McLeroy Bible, Mack Bible, Jane Boyd Lumpkin, G.W. Cash, Lynda Campbell Ewen, Carolyn Cavendar Johnson, Harold Crumpton, Diane Colquitt Junior, Virginia Carden Van Orman, Billy Cavendar, Patricia Crane Skinner, Frances Funderburk Williams, Bill Gaines, Myra Glassco Gaines, Sammy Gidley, James Green, Wilmer Glasgow Jr., Thomas Hamm, Ray Hampton, Linda Hampton Sutherland, Ophelia Hughes, Jean Key Hemby, Janice Jackson Owen, Charles Kennedy, John Lamb, Joan Lambert Robinson, Patsy McElroy Swafford Body, Jack McComb, John Norton, Kerry Poland, Doris Maner Poland, Sue Holley Pentecost, Ray Rollins, Gaycille Roberts Swisher, Gwendolyn Sharp Newborn, Lillian Turner Preston, Martha Smith Wilkinson and Roy Walker.
