Prep basketball: Horton, Thurmond pace Jacksonville win

Cam Horton had 24 points, and Sid Thurmond pitched in 21 as Jacksonville High beat White Plains 68-63 in boys basketball Monday night.

Lavontae LaCount added 14 points for the Golden Eagles (2-1), who get a break until playing at Oneonta on Dec. 3.

For White Plains, Dylan Randall had 28 points.

The game was tied 29-29 at halftime.

Gadsden City 65, Anniston 61, OT: Qua Frazier had 23 points and seven rebounds for Anniston, which trailed 24-18 at halftime.

Quint Dobbins had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Quin Jackson added 10 points and seven rebounds.

The two teams were tied 55-55 at the end of regulation.

For Gadsden City, Chris Dudley had 14 points.

Anniston (1-2) will face Winterboro tonight at home.


Jacksonville 63, White Plains 32:
Virginia Poe paced the winners with 15 points. Angel Kidd added 14, and Dasia Kirksey had 13.

Jacksonville led 34-12 at halftime. The Golden Eagles hit the floor again Wednesday in the Cherokee Invitational at Centre.

Gadsden City 64, Anniston 48: Gadsden City outscored Anniston 23-7 in the second quarter to race out to a 34-16 halftime lead.

Quanetria Bolton had 19 points and 14 rebounds for Anniston, while Kiyanna Bullock added eight points and four rebounds.

Raven Cooley had eight points and three rebounds.

Haley Troup had 20 points for Gadsden City, and Brooke Burns pitched in 19.

Anniston (1-1) will play at a home game tonight against Winterboro.
