An Anniston woman faces trial on a felony assault charge after police arrested her under suspicion of attacking her acquaintance during an argument last week.

Anniston investigators arrested 32-year-old Lashay Johnson Friday on a second-degree assault charge.

A 25-year-old woman who described herself as Johnson’s friend said Johnson hit her in the face with a hammer during a Jan. 15 argument outside of Glen Addie Apartments.

When patrol officers arrive on scene that night, they noticed the victim had a one-inch cut above her left eye, which she received treatment for at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.

Police did not have details about what started the argument between Johnson and the victim.

Johnson was booked into the Anniston City Jail Friday morning on a $5,000 bond.

She had bonded out of jail by Monday and awaits a March 4 court date.
