A 20-year-old woman was in the Anniston City Jail on Wednesday morning, charged with second-degree felony assault for allegedly punching a nurse.

Kayla Quanice Coleman was at Regional Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon, when she became unruly and hit one of her nurses in the face, police Sgt. Josh Doggrell said.

Police had taken Coleman to the hospital earlier that morning after she became aggressive toward McDonald’s workers and threatened to harm herself, the sergeant said. Investigators don’t know where exactly Coleman is from, because she has told police at different times that she is from Gadsden and Weaver.

Officers arrested Coleman at the hospital on the assault charge around 1:30 p.m. and took her to the jail. She was being held there Wednesday morning. No bond information was available.
