A collision involving a Chevrolet Silverado truck and a blue Kia Spectra outside the Martin’s clothing store blocked three lanes of southbound traffic around 11:15 a.m., said Anniston police officer Brian Brockman.
Larry Cate Jr., 78, of Anniston was driving the Silverado north, when he turned left into the Martin’s parking lot, heading into oncoming traffic and being struck by Paula Williams, 23, of Weaver, heading southbound, Brockman said.
Police were able to move Williams’ car into the parking lot of Martin’s, but not until traffic had reached a standstill near the traffic lights McClellan Boulevard’s intersection with U.S. 431, Brockman said.
No one was injured in the accident and no charges were filed, Brockman said.
By noon, traffic was flowing normally, with just the southbound right-hand turn lane closed.
