SECTION — It was only two plays, but it was enough to enough to all but cement the momentum in Pleasant Valley’s favor and send it back home to Calhoun County with a 48-12 win over region-foe Section.

On the final drive of the first half, the Raiders had a goal-line stand at the 1-yard line, preventing a touchdown.

Then when the Raiders took the opening kickoff of the second half, senior standout Kyle Bean put the dagger deep in the heart of the Lions with a 98-yard kickoff return.

“It really gave us a huge boost,” Pleasant Valley coach Jeff Davis said, “and kind of demorialized them.”

The kickoff return wasn’t the only thing Bean did on the night. In typical fashion, he led the Raiders in rushing with 12 carries for 162 yards and three touchdowns.

Dalton Thompson added a 60-yard touchdown run

Nathan Faucett was the third tailback of the night to score when he took a fourth-and-12 carry 20 yards to paydirt.

“I asked him if he wanted a carry,” Davis said. “So, I told him, ‘Go get a first down.’

“He drug about three guys in the end zone with him.”

Pleasant Valley also got a 14-yard touchdown pass from Josh White to Zach Atchinson.
