For 71 years, and in varying ways, Americans have honored the memory of the 2,400 U.S. dead from the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack. Today, Dec. 7, will be no different.

A solemn ceremony will be held in Hawaii. Cities and military organizations throughout the nation will stage events. The main difference, of course, is that fewer Pearl Harbor survivors will take part.

The Pearl Harbor Survivors Association held its last gathering last year. A handful of survivors, perhaps less than 100, is expected today in Honolulu. Sadly, in a few years no Dec. 7 survivors will remain with us.

If you know one, shake his hand, and listen to his tale.
