Patriotism a little too late

A few nights ago while watching the evening news, I heard U.S. Congressman Harry Reid express his disgust over the U.S. Olympic team’s uniforms being made in China. He said that “the uniforms should be piled up and burned.” He went on to express his outrage by referring to the many textile workers who are desperate for work.

I am outraged over this myself. My question for Reid is this: Where have you been for the last few decades? For a long time now, most of the clothing sold in stores in the United States comes from China and other countries in Southeast Asia. When I shop for clothes, I try to find brands manufactured in the United States. I am very seldom successful. It’s funny how an election year can bring out the patriotism in some people.
