A four-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 202 and Quintard Avenue sent one driver to the hospital Friday afternoon, police say.

A tractor-trailer truck rear-ended a Ford Mustang that was stopped at the intersection around 3 p.m., Anniston Police Sgt. Scott Grissom said. The Mustang struck a pickup in front of it, and that pickup struck another pickup in front of it, Grissom said.

The driver of the Mustang was ejected from the vehicle and was taken to Regional Medical Center for treatment, Grissom said.

Police estimated that the tractor-trailer was traveling 40 mph at the time of the crash. The other vehicles were stationary in the southbound lane of Quintard, police said.

As of 4 p.m., traffic on Quintard was backed up as the wreckage of the vehicles was being removed.

Police have not yet determined the cause of the crash.
