The postmark deadline is Saturday to register for the 40th Montgomery Art Guild Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts Exhibition at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. At this exhibition, artists can win awards totaling more than $20,000, the highest ever for this show and the largest in the State of Alabama. Artists are invited to enter as many as five works in seven categories: paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, photographs, computer graphics and mixed media. The show’s opening reception will be 5:30 p.m. April 5. The show will continue until 5 p.m. June 2. Family nights will be held 5:30-7 p.m. each Monday in January and February at the Hobson City Public Library, 610 Martin Luther King Drive. Get your “Passport to the World” and visit a different country every week. Your name will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 gift card. Chris Hill of Anniston is a volunteer “ambassador” for Dogs for the Deaf, a non-profit organization in Oregon that rescues dogs from animal shelters and trains them to help adults and children with different disabilities, challenges and needs.
