On Nov. 5, Mayor Wayne Willis and City Council members Jeff Clendenning, Ellen Cole, Les Hill, Tim McCrae and Mike Warren will take up their responsibilities of governing the city of Weaver.

This is a golden opportunity to make a commitment to attend City Council meetings. During the election campaign, I heard people express concerns about repairing roads and infrastructure, improving the appearance of our city, bringing in new businesses and generally improving our quality of life. Our voices need to be heard. Our ideas and suggestions need to be brought forward.

In the near future, the Veterans Memorial Parkway will be completed. Development will greatly increase at McClellan. Weaver stands to benefit from this, if we are ready. Attending City Council meetings requires only one hour every two weeks. For many, this may be a major commitment, but it is vital for moving Weaver forward. Please give this some thought over the next few weeks.
