A young man, a school board member, many others and surprisingly one of my former Sunday School teachers all passionately informed the current council members on why they would be good fits for the remaining tenure of the appointment.
As I pondered how I would answer the barrage of questions from the respective council members, my attention was diverted to the many constituents and other members of the community who came out and listened intensely to what the candidates had to say. It was as if their ears were shining gold pans throughout the council chambers sifting through the rubble to extract the gold that is so desperately needed. That gold they sought shines the light of cooperation, accountability and progressiveness. This same gold shone the light that gave the City of Anniston its name as “The Model City” in the first place.
As I meet with my specific constituents and residents all over the city, I pray they are able to see and mine that same gold in me.
