Police were alerted around 11 p.m. by hospital officials at Regional Medical Center that a 21-year-old man had been admitted with injuries to his face, arm and leg after allegedly being hit the head with an unknown object, said Anniston police Sgt. Josh Doggrell. The man is expected to recover from his injuries.
The man told police he had been walking to a relative’s house in the area about 9 p.m. when he was struck, Doggrell said. Initially the victim lost consciousness, but eventually arrived at the relative’s house and was taken to the hospital.
The man reported nothing as stolen during the attack.
Doggrell said investigators will be conducting a follow-up interview with the victim in hopes of learning more about the alleged attack.
