Man charged in fatal graduation party shooting

A 20-year-old man is accused of shooting one person to death and wounding eight others in a rampage of gunfire in a crowded room where people had gathered for a high school graduation party.

Capt. Loyd Baker, commander of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit, said eight attempted murder charges were filed Monday against Akeem Antwan Prewitt, who was being held on bonds totaling $195,000. Prewitt was charged with murder Sunday following the shooting around midnight Saturday at The Links apartment complex clubhouse.
