Many thanks to the person(s) who left the wonderful donations Saturday at Secondhand Tails Thrift Store at 6500 McClellan Blvd. I'm sorry you came after closing and had to lift them over the fence. As items have gone missing from the gated area, we must lock the gates when the store is closed.

Kudos to the gentleman who came to the store Sunday morning and removed several bags of these donations before driving off. In an apparent change of heart, he backed up and took several more bags. Way to go. You made my day.

Maybe he didn't know that the store is the main source of income for The Animal Shelter. Maybe he didn't know that after rent and utilities are paid each month that every cent made goes to the shelter. The store does not pay for any repair, cleaning or office supplies used. Store volunteers pay for everything, including phone and garbage service. Maybe he didn't know how hard the volunteers work to repair, wash, clean and display donations to make the store look more like a gift shop. Maybe he just didn't care.

As far as I know, all of the thrift stores in our area support a nonprofit organization. The sole purpose of these organizations is to help people. If you are in need, go in the front door and ask for help; don't go to the back door and help yourself. You'll sleep much better.

Our store hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday. If you are unable to bring your donation during store hours, please call the store at 847-1125 and we will try to make other arrangements.
