An employee at Rally’s Hamburgers called Anniston police shortly after midnight to report a masked gunman attempting to enter the back door of the drive-through restaurant, said Anniston police Lt. Fred Forsythe.
The gunman initially approached an employee who was taking trash outside and demanded to be let in, Forsythe said, but the employee managed to escape.
Because the doors of the restaurant are locked at all times, the gunman’s attempts to enter the building were unsuccessful, Forsythe said.
Forsythe said anyone with information about the incident including residents in the area who might have witnessed the attempted robbery should call Anniston police at 256-240-4000.
