ICE pulling detainees from Etowah County jail

About 49 employees could be cut immediately at the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office after an unexpected notification on Tuesday that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is pulling out of the county’s detention center.

Officials with ICE in Atlanta met Tuesday with officials at the Etowah County Detention Center and informed them that 350 immigration detainees will be removed from the jail on Saturday.
