Re “Citing possible danger to spring, Anniston Water Works seeks no drilling in national forest” (News article, Aug. 4):

I read the article in The Star about the water and sewer board’s concern about the drilling in the Talladega National Forest for oil and how it may affect the area’s water supply.

I live on Possum Trot Road, off Roy Webb Road. About 18 months ago, the Calhoun County Water Works drilled a well about 500 feet below my house. Since this well started operation, the well at my house has gone dry.

I have lived at this address for more than 35 years and never has this well gone dry. It was an artesian well; it would flow out the top of the well. I had pipes in the side of the well where the water would flow into my fish ponds. Now my well is a dry pond, about five feet low. Anniston needs to do something quick before you are in the same fix that I have gotten into.
