Circuit clerk is a complex job that essentially manages all of the workings and related actions of the circuit and district court. The circuit clerk makes the justice system work for all: Plaintiffs, defendants, victims, all citizens. In this time of cutbacks for all functions of state and county government in Alabama, the circuit clerk, more than ever, needs knowledge, skills and abilities to manage this office in the most efficient and effective manner possible.

Who should we hire for this important job? Missy Hall has more than 10 years of experience as a judicial assistant and has worked daily with the circuit clerk’s office, as well as managing a law office. Hall has worked eight years with the Calhoun County Drug Court, gaining a perspective of how the justice system can help those who choose to avoid further involvement with the courts. Hall is professionally motivated to take on one of the most important elected responsibilities at the local level.

The other applicant is a long-time professional politician with no direct experience with the legal system. So, who will we hire? A politician with no relevant experience, or Missy Hall, a professional who clearly has the knowledge, skills and abilities for the job? Seems like one of those “no-brainers” to me.
