Black Americans need to tone down their sexuality, he says.
Jackson's controversial premise, which is getting all kinds of comments on Think Progress' website, is that black Americans need to concentrate more on repairing the family structure (less single-parent homes) and stop "treating your bodies as sexual objects." His comments were given in response to President Obama's take on the George Zimmerman trial in Florida.
In a recent radio interview, Jackson said, "The first thing I’m doing, I do know, which is to say that I prefer “Americans of African decent.” I think we have got to stop balkanizing ourselves and racializing ourselves and first of all start thinking of ourselves as Americans, see these problems as American problems, not as black problems or white problems, but American problems and come together and work on them."
Agree or disagree? Jackson comments are out there in some regards, but his call for men to be responsible fathers is a stance impossible to discount.
