“Welcome back to WJYT, California’s most listened-to radio station. We are here with the doctor Lin Carlford, who says she has a cure for the flu. Tell them, Lin.”

“Yes, we have tested it on 1,000 patients with the flu symptoms, and only an hour after the injection, all symptoms were gone.”

About two hours later….

“Dad, are you still going to get your flu shot today?” Tom said as his father got ready for work.

“Yes,” he said while hurrying out the door. Tom was 15, and he had an older brother who was 18 years old.

Another week passes…

“Dad, are you okay?” Tom said as his dad collapsed onto the floor.

It seemed like hours before the doctor finally come out of his father’s hospital room. “Your father has a high fever of 105 degrees. He should be in a coma right now, but something’s keeping him out of it. We have been seeing this stuff a lot in the past few hours. Did your father get the new flu shot? Everyone who has these symptoms had the flu shot,” said the doctor in a concerned voice.

“Yes,” Tom said teary-eyed.

Raaaaaaa! Tom heard coming from the other side of the hallway. He shuddered in fear. Then a figure of a man appeared. His face had blood covering it, and his hair was falling out. He came bounding down the hallway straight at the doctor and Tom. Tom looked up at the doctor, whose mouth was open in fear.

Woom! The doctor was on the floor now, tackled by the man. Tom jumped down to his feet and screamed as the man bit down on the doctor’s neck, and the doctor stopped squirming.

Tom took off running to his father’s room, down the hall a small length away. He ran into the room and shut the door. He turned breathlessly to look at the hospital bed, but his father wasn’t there.

“Maybe I went into the wrong room,” he thought, but he saw the flowers Aunt Liz brought.

“Dad,” Tom said in a quivering voice. He peeked inside the door and saw his father eating his Aunt Liz. Tom couldn’t hold back his scream. “Ahhhhhh!”

Tom ran to the door, his father or his father’s body chasing him. Without thinking, he flung open the door and ran into the hallway. The only things he saw were empty hospital beds lining the hallway, soaked with blood.

What went wrong? The doctor told the people it was safe, but it turned people into crazed murderers. Almost 4 billion people died in the pandemic. Only about 100,000 people lived.
