Miller Florist and Gifts in Oxford offers some of the same services other local florists do, but with a twist. Upon walking into the charming shop, on the left sits a table full of cherubs and angel wings. Directly across are monogrammed blankets, porcelain dishes, stuffed playmates for gift sets, and, of course, a wide array of floral arrangements from live to artificial plants. In business for nearly three decades, Miller’s provides for local residents in their time of bereavement, celebrations and joyous occasions.

Lisa Lovelady wears a lot of hats for Miller Florist, but her main job is creating unique pieces for the Dudley Miller-owned business as the floral designer. According to Lovelady, creating beautiful arrangements for customers is important, but it is their customer service that makes them stand out in the community.

“We go the extra mile to give customers what they want, especially when it comes to funerals, because that’s the last thing you’ll get to do for people,” she said.

In addition to providing arrangements for funerals, Lovelady said Miller Florist also designs custom arrangements and centerpieces for weddings, births, anniversaries, graduations, birthdays and other special functions.

“There’s really nothing we can’t do and we like to offer our customers a variety,” she said. “We cover a big area. If we can’t handle it, then we call someone who can.”

While summer is generally a slow time for the shop, Lovelady said things will pick up in October, just in time for football season, and they will be back to providing that “special touch to every order for their customers.”

“We specialize in unique design and one-of-a-kind arrangements,” Lovelady said. “We make everybody feel special because every order is special to us.”
