The big news for menswear this fall is that it’s getting easier to feel good while looking good, according to style watcher James Montgomery.

While a student at Jacksonville State University, Montgomery helped start a fashion company called Lodbibo, which designed and manufactured classic ties. The ties have sold out, and Montgomery has now started a fashion and arts website called Enstyleclopedia.

Montgomery’s finds for fall include denim-washed oxidized khakis at the Gap, which look like dress pants but wear like jeans. The Gap’s modern Oxford shirt is an update on the classic dress shirt, with a more tailored fit and a thicker cloth that’s perfect for chilly nights. Montgomery also liked the Gap’s fitted hoodies, tailored so they don’t look like sweatshirts.

Fall colors are, fittingly, vibrant. Gap’s new khakis go way beyond camel with bright shades of gold, turquoise, sienna and brick. At Dillard’s, you can find neon pink ties and rich plaids from Ralph Lauren. “It’s all about color and layering,” Montgomery says.

1. Think pink

Yes, real men wear pink. One pop of color is all it takes. Shirt, pants, blazer and tie from Dillard’s at Quintard Mall.

2. Vibrant colors

The color for fall is vibrant. Bright khakis, modern Oxford shirt and military stripe belt from the Gap at Quintard Mall.

3. Army jackets

An army jacket and jeans never looked so good. Tailored fatigue jacket, modern thick-striped Oxford shirt and denim-washed khakis from the Gap at Quintard Mall.

4. Bold plaids

Ralph Lauren ushers in fall with big, bold plaids. Shirt and pants by Polo Ralph Lauren from Dillard’s at Quintard Mall.
