A 1-year-old cocker spaniel was stabbed repeatedly in a trash can Monday afternoon in Bayou La Batre, police said. The dog survived, and its 46-year-old owner was jailed on a felony charge.

Jillian Burke Cochran was charged with first-degree dog/cat cruelty and was in Mobile County Metro Jail as of Tuesday evening in lieu of $3,000 bail, according to jail records.
