As the disasters in Pennsylvania, Texas and other states have shown us, there is nothing good about fracking. It pollutes the air, destroys the water supply and makes people sick. Now, fracking is coming to our area. The delicate riches of the Talladega National Forest will be destroyed, and Coldwater Springs will be poisoned.

What the companies that do this would like most is to see this threat turned into a political matter, a matter of opinion. Instead of thinking about it in factual terms and reacting effectively, we will find ourselves siding either with “tree-hugging liberals” or “job-creating conservatives.” This will render all of us conveniently weak. If we allow this to happen, then all of us will lose, and the loss will be great and permanent.
