The Police Department has recovered the ATM machine stolen early Sunday morning.
“We recovered the stolen ATM and the vehicle used in the theft about 2 p.m. Tuesday,” Lincoln Police Chief Travis McGrady said. “Both were recovered about 2-3 miles away from the bank.”
McGrady said the ATM was stolen from the First National Bank of Talladega Lincoln branch on U.S. 78 at about 4:40 a.m. Sunday. Thieves used a forklift stolen from the construction site of the new municipal complex located behind the bank to spear the ATM and load it into the back of a pickup truck. The forklift was sitting at the bank with its engine on when responding officers arrived.
