The Community Foundation of Calhoun County awarded the Harry M. and Edle Y. Ayers Scholarship to three outstanding individuals. In appreciation of the services of past and present employees, the company established the Ayers scholarship. Scholarships are awarded to children or grandchildren of full time employee's or retirees of Consolidated Publishing Company.

Lauren B. Evans and Jordan T. Evans are grandchildren of George Evans, retired associate editor of the Anniston Star. Parents are Tim Evans and Cindy Crowe. Lauren is a 2007 graduate of White Plains High School and is attending the University of Alabama. Lauren is pursuing a degree in pharmacy. Jordan is a 2009 graduate of White Plains High School and is attending Jacksonville State University.

Brittany R. Terrell is the daughter of Anniston Star Circulation Director Dennis Dunn and wife Debbie. She is a graduate of Oxford High School and is attending Jacksonville State University. Brittany is pursuing a degree in nursing.
