Faith Christian School’s mathematics teams attended the Southern Union Mathematics Tournament at Southern Union State Community College in Wadley April 4. The Comprehensive Team, consisting of Stephen Emerson, Paul Bedford, Chessa Halpin and Parker Moore, placed first in the small schools (1A-3A) and fourth overall in the Comprehensive (includes calculus) Competition. All four team members earned points in the ciphering competition, and two students, Stephen Emerson and Paul Bedford, ranked fifth and sixth respectively in the Comprehensive competition.

The Pre-Calculus Team members, Rebecca Harvey, Carter McKinnon, Alicia McCord and Peyton Camp, won the Pre-calculus small school division and placed fourth in the tournament. Rebecca Harvey, Alicia McCord and Carter McKinnon earned points in ciphering and Carter McKinnon placed fourth in the competition while Rebecca Harvey placed seventh.

The Algebra 2 Team, Ryan Crosby, John Bell, Elizabeth Clark, and Sydney Nordan, placed first in the small schools division and sixth place in the tournament. Ryan Crosby had the fourth place individual score and had ciphering points, while Elizabeth Clark was ranked eighth.

The Geometry Team, David Wall, Kesley Williams, Madison Stephens and Jameson Thacker, all earned points in ciphering and David Wall was one of the top 25 individuals in the Geometry competition.

Our Algebra I team, Abby Emerson, Precious Kufarimai, Michael Kulick, and Jared White, ranked third in the small schools division. Precious Kufarimai and Michael Kulick scored points in the ciphering competition and Abby Emerson was one of the top 20 individuals in the Algebra I competition.
