My questions were: 1. Where were the Common Core Standards tested? 2. What were the results of the testing? 3. Where were the test results published so parents, teachers and other citizens can view and evaluate the effectiveness of Common Core? 4. Specifically, who in Alabama wrote the standards for Alabama?
He admitted the academic advances made in Alabama had nothing to do with Common Core but stated that “we” were told that Alabama education wasn’t working and “we” were “sold” Common Core.
Our legislators place a lot of trust in education administrators. Did the Alabama education establishment adopt the controversial Common Core plan without the slightest empirical evidence that it has been tried, tested and demonstrated effective, thus supporting all their hopes, promises and claims? Would the Alabama Department of Education and school boards really conduct a costly experiment on our children without any proof that it’s effective and good for them in every way?
